Easter

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living ...

The next day, when the large crowd that had come to the festival heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, they took palm branches and went out to meet Him. They kept shouting: "Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord — the King of Israel!" Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written: Fear no more, Daughter Zion; look! your King is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt. Goggle-eyed paper dragons festooned the stair railings, teenagers mingled over soda and chips, and little girls in bright-colored silk dresses dashed about on the slippery floor.

PITTSFIELD SCARE TACTICS

BY SCOTT MONROE

Staff Writer Morning Sentinel

PITTSFIELD -- Ron Steeves, a tractor-trailer driver, took a weeklong vacation last week. But he didn't go camping or travel to someplace warm.

He stayed at home. And set up gravestones in his yard. And cobwebs, a fog machine, gorilla cage, skulls and bones, a severed hand and pumpkins, and a big, creepy clown with razor-sharp teeth.

Steeves wasn't finished decorating his North Main Street home yet.

Young artists embellish storefronts and add to the Halloween spirit in Deering Center.

By ANN S. KIM

Staff Writer Portland Press Herald

Ghosts, monsters and other creepy creatures are haunting storefronts in Portland's Deering Center neighborhood, thanks to young artists and Boy Scout Troop 1.

Youngsters and their adults turned out for the annual neighborhood tradition on Sunday, painting Halloween scenes on 45 windows belonging to Central Square businesses.
