FARMINGTON -- With last weekend's Farmington Frolic sled dog races an unqualified success, mushers are readying for the next three competitions on the circuit.

BENTON -- Now that the dam that once blocked fish passage on the Sebasticook River in Winslow is down, the Benton dam poses the first big obstacle facing alewives as they swim upstream.



The Benton dam, as well as the dam in Burnham, both have fish ladders. But when alewives make their annual spawning run this spring, they will congregate below the Benton dam, prior to finding that fish ladder.
