WINSLOW -- A state wildlife biologist has investigated the reported sighting of a mountain lion in Winslow.



The biologist, Kendall Marden, didn't find any evidence such as hair or feces to scientifically confirm the presence of the animal.



But something else was discovered: what appears to be a large paw print in sand and dirt by the side of the road. It appears to measure 6 to 9 inches long and 5 inches wide.

CLINTON -- Once again, residents have rejected funding for the Police Department.



And as noted by Town Manager James Rhodes, a looming reduction in state revenue and a November vote on reduced excise taxes won't make taxpayers any more likely to approve municipal spending.

WATERVILLE -- City councilors might soon be faced with deciding if nudity, porn shops, escort services, massage parlors and other forms of adult entertainment should be prohibited downtown.

SKOWHEGAN -- A teller at Taconnet Federal Credit Union on U.S. Route 201 was robbed at knife point Wednesday morning by a hooded man who escaped on a motorcycle, police said.

NORRIDGEWOCK -- An alert tractor-trailer driver might have averted a disaster Friday morning for a special-needs teen.
